Chester Chorus hits Broadway!

Chester Community Chorus has been invited to perform on the lawn of the Village Green as part of the Chester Community Association’s Second Thursday event series! We will present an exciting concert of Broadway favorites on Thursday, April 12 (time TBA). Singers of all skill levels are invited to join. September 11th: Remember. Revere. Restore.

Join us at 7PM on Sunday, September 11 and Monday, September 12 as we remember loved ones lost and honor those who served in the wake of this tragedy. Then we will join our voices in celebrating the unity of spirit that brings hope and healing to a nation. This free concert will be held at Chester United Methodist Church (12132 Percival Street, Chester, VA) under the direction of Joshua Wortham along with accompanist Cheryl Van Ornam. The centerpiece for this concert will be Mack Wilberg’s new Requiem setting. Other selections include the festive “Psalm 46? by John Ness Beck, Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia”, Rosephanye Powell’s bold setting of the Langston Hughes text, “I Dream A World”, and more!

Summer Season Begins! – September 11th Remembrance

This summer we invite singers of all skill levels to join us as we mark the 10th anniversary of the fateful events that happened on September 11th. This stirring choral program will be full of reverence, contemplation, hope and celebration. The centerpiece for this concert will be Mack Wilberg’s new Requiem setting. Book-ending this moving work will be the festive “Psalm 46″ by John Ness Beck, Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia”, Rosephanye Powell’s bold setting of the Langston Hughes text “I Dream A World” and more! Childish Behavior Concert to Support Japan Relief Efforts

Though our music may be childish this season, our mission is not! During our March 27th concert, please come prepared to make a tax deductible donation which will support disaster relief efforts in Japan following the recent Earthquake and Tsunami. Contributions will be sent to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee On Relief) which utilizes 100% of the funds it receives toward all-encompassing short term and long term relief efforts (including health, safety, education and more). CONCERT: Childish Behavior

Stories In Song Rehearsals Begin!

Our next season is here! Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, January 18th at 7:30 for “Stories In Song” – our next exciting concert! Singers of all skill levels are welcome! This delightful program will feature childhood favorites Old MacDonald, This Old Man, Mother Goose Madrigals, Aesop’s Fables (a new choral setting by Bob Chilcott).   The concert will be performed on Sunday, March 27th at 3:00 PM at Chester United Methodist Church.

Sounds of the Season Concert!

Take a break from the holiday chaos and join us for a concert full of your sing-along favorites! On Monday, December 13th we team with the Chester Wind Symphony (www.chesterwinds.org) for this charming program at Elizabeth Davis Middle School. Laugh, sing and celebrate together at 7:30 PM, then join us for homemade cookies following the concert. We’ll be taking up a collection to support the Wind Symphony’s Scholarship Fund so stop by the ATM on your way! Elizabeth Davis Middle School is located at 601 Corvus Court, just off Bermuda Orchard Lane.

Sounds of the Season

Join us for a short holiday season as we prepare an exciting concert along with our friends in the Chester Wind Symphony. The performance will be held on Monday, December 13th at Elizabeth Davis Middle School in Enon, VA. Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, November 2nd at 7:30 PM at Chester United Methodist Church. Singers of all skill levels are welcome! The program will include a couple of sing-a-long medleys, plus Ukranian Bell Carol, and a carol by PDQ Bach!

Mozart’s Requiem

Join us for this exciting program on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of Chester United Methodist Church featuring the Chester Community Chorus under the direction of Joshua Wortham. Cheryl Van Ornam will be the organist. Soloists include Chelsea Buyalos, Mette Shultz, Deanna Chavez, Sherrie Lizarraga, Peyton Lassiter, Christopher Ahart, Jim Clark and Joel Coreas. A free-will offering will be received to defray production costs and support future CCC performances.
